CALGARY CARVERS CLUB 
SPRING 2019 NEWSLETTER
 
1. MEMBERSHIP:
We now stand at 27 paid-up members for the 2019 carving year of which 18 to 20 carvers attend each Tuesday.
 
2. RECRUITMENT:
Our Website and personal invitations seem to be our main source for new carver members. The results are excellent. Keep it up.
We will continue attending the Black Forest Wood EXPO in October each year mainly for the exposure and good prospective carver recruits.
 
3: SUMMER SESSION:
The Spring 2019 Session Carving is coming to an end and we will be transitioning onto our Summer Venue. Same time same place June 25/19.
 
4: COMINGS AND GOINGS:
Our Scroll Saw failed a week ago so due to unavailable parts from Ryobi, we purchased a new King Canada variable speed machine that is nearly a carbon copy. The learning curve will be very short for those who use them. Along with the "old - old" one, we now have double the capacity.
The wood workshop is getting quite crowded with wood working machines and carvers at times. The main thing is to share and limit the loitering.
 
A general clean-up of our GREEN STORAGE CABINET and BOOK SHELVES including books, magazines, drawings, patterns and goto carving samples is planned for the next few weeks of May & early June. It will be a no charge give away, first come first serve. If there is something you fancy, don't miss a carving session.
 
5. SOCIAL AND ENTERTAINMENT:
I have booked our ANNUAL Spring Carving Club Dinner in the auditorium at Ogden House Seniors Club with our usual excellent Chef and Caterer.
The plan is for the Ukrainian Food Theme, same as we enjoyed at Christmas 2018.

Perogies
Kolbassa Ukrainian Sausage
Saur Kraut
White & brown buns & butter
Sour Cream
Salade
Desert
Tea & Coffee
 
The DATE: Tuesday June 18, 2019
The PLACE: Ogden House Seniors Club Centre
The COST:   $18.00 per plate, (same as Christmas 2018).
Maggie will be in charge of of collecting the funds this season. Either cash or a cheque made out to Calgary Carvers.
The BAR: Open at 5:00 to 8:00 (cash bar)
The TIME: 6:00 PM Table/chair set-up
6:30 PM Feasting Begins
8:00 PM Clean-up
 
Bring your Mate and/or significant other with your appetites.
